A simple workflow
From real costs
to a clearer price.
No complicated setup. Follow the costs in the order you pay them.
Add what you buy
Enter supplies in the quantities you buy them, then the amount one item uses. The calculator works out the cost per item.
Count your time and overhead
Include making and admin time, packaging, monthly costs and an allowance for waste or failed pieces.
Choose where you sell
Compare retail, wholesale, fees, profit and break-even for Etsy, craft fairs and your own website.
Built to count the overlooked costs
More than
a markup.
Selling fees, overhead and pricing choices belong in the same calculation—not in a guess made afterward.
Etsy fees, line by line
$0.20 listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee, payment processing of 3% plus $0.25, and optional Offsite Ads at 12% or 15%.
Craft fair costs
Card reader fees (2.6% plus 15 cents on Square in person) and your booth fee spread over the items you expect to sell.
Your own website
Online card processing at 2.9% plus 30 cents, the common rate on Shopify Basic and Stripe, so you can compare channels.
Wholesale and retail
Set a target profit margin or use the classic multiplier, with charm-price rounding such as $24.99 or $25.00, then check it against what similar items sell for.
Break-even price
The lowest price per channel that still covers every cost and fee, so a sale or discount never loses money by accident.
Copy, share, CSV, print
Save a product as a link, export a CSV for your spreadsheet, or print a costing sheet. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
Fee examples use US rates from published platform pages: Etsy fees, Square pricing and Shopify pricing. Rates can change; edit every rate to match your own.

Good questions.
Clear answers.
About the tool, the formula and your data.
Is the craft pricing calculator really free?
Yes. There is no account, trial or email required. The calculator runs in your browser and saves your last product on your own device, so you can close the page and pick up where you left off.
What formula does it use to price handmade items?
By default it uses a 50% profit margin: retail is twice your total cost per item, and wholesale is half of retail. You can switch to the classic handmade formula (cost times 2 for wholesale, times 2 again for retail), and check either price against what similar items sell for.
Does it include Etsy fees and Offsite Ads?
Yes. It adds the listing fee, transaction fee and payment processing fee to every Etsy price, and lets you switch on Offsite Ads at 12% or 15% to see how a sale through an ad changes your profit.
Should I pay myself an hourly wage in my price?
Yes. Labor is a real cost even when you are the only maker. Enter the hourly rate you would need to pay someone else to do the work, and include admin time such as photos, listings and packing, not only making time.
Is my pricing data stored or shared?
No. Your numbers stay in your browser's local storage. Nothing you type is sent to Craft Pricing Lab. A share link only contains your inputs inside the link itself, and only people you send it to can open it.
